Break and enter On June 4, 2016, the Guelph Police investigated a break and enter at a Fountain Street residence. The break in occurred sometime overnight on June 3, entry was gained through a kitchen window.

On June 4, 2016, the Guelph Police investigated a break and enter at a Fountain Street residence. The break in occurred sometime overnight on June 3, entry was gained through a kitchen window.  Police investigation identified the suspects after they used credit cards stolen from the break and enter.  Members of the Guelph Police Special Projects, and High Enforcement Action Team located and arrested two parties in relation to the offences and executed two search warrants at the their respective addresses. A quantity of Crystal Methamphetamine was located on one of the accused parties during the arrest. A quantity of stolen property has been recovered and the investigation is ongoing.

 

Karen Wesley, 38 years of Guelph has been charged with break and enter, use stolen credit card x7, fraud under $5,000 x7 and possession of property obtained by crime.

Dillon Popyk, 28 years of Guelph has been charged with break and enter, possession of a controlled substance, use stolen credit card x7, fraud under $5,000 x7 and possession of property obtained by crime.

On June 4, 2016 at 4:05 p.m., the Guelph Police went to a Harris Street residence to investigate a break and enter. The culprit(s) entered the rear shed and stole electronics and alcohol.

On June 5, 2016 at 12:53 p.m., the Guelph Police went to a Macdonell Street business to investigate a break and enter. The culprit(s) entered through the rear door and stole keys and a small amount of money.

Break and enter

On June 5, 2016 at 12:53 p.m., the Guelph Police went to an Ontario Street building to investigate a break and enter. The culprit(s) entered the basement storage area sometime between noon and 5:00 p.m. A theft of two bicycles is reported. Police investigation is ongoing, trying to determine if more thefts occurred.

Man with knife arrested

On June 3, 2016 at 12:34 p.m., the Guelph Police were called to Gordon Street near downtown for the report of two males arguing and one of them brandishing a knife. Police located the men and the male that had the knife again brandished it when police arrived. He was arrested without incident.

Chessen Johnston, 20 years of Guelph has been charged with utter threats, weapons dangerous, carry a concealed weapon and assault with a weapon. He will appear in court on July 19, 2016.

Fraud call

On June 4, 2016 at 8:50 p.m., the Guelph Police went to a Gordon Street business in regard to a male attempting to cash a stolen cheque.  Police located the male and investigation confirmed that the cheque the male had was reported stolen on June 1, 2016.  The male was arrested and the subsequent search discovered two more stolen cheques and a small quantity of MDMA. 

Matthew Hansen, of Guelph has been charged with utter forged document, possession of stolen property, possession of a controlled substance, breach of recognizance and three counts of breach of probation. He will appear in court on June 6, 2016.

Theft from cars

On June 5, 2016 at 7:26 a.m., the Guelph Police went to the area of Sunnylea Crescent and Pleasant Road for the report of a male going through cars. A male matching the description given was located and arrested. The subsequent search discovered a quantity of change, a GPS unit, several cell phone chargers, cigars and four knives.

A 17-year-old Guelph male has been charged with theft under $5,000 and possession of stolen property. He will appear in court on July 6, 2016.

Drive over 80mg

On June 5, 2016 at 2:27 p.m., the Guelph Police received the report of a possible impaired driver on Stevenson Street North. Police located the female driver and her car on Speedvale Avenue as she pulled into a parking lot. Police investigation led to the female being arrested.

Valerie Davis, 59 years of Guelph has been charged with drive over 80mg. She will appear in court on June 21, 2016.

Theft from cars

Over the weekend the Guelph Police received five reports from Guelph residents about thefts from their cars. The locations were Dufferin Street, Weir Drive, Bagot Street, Gordon Street and Nottingham Street.

This crime is easily avoided by locking your cars, keeping valuables out of sight or removed from your vehicle and parked in a well-lit and visible area where possible. Road safety enforcement on June 3 and 4

June 3 - In the area of Speedvale Avenue at Glenwood Avenue from 11:15 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. - 3 tickets issued.

June 4 - In the area of Stone Road at Monticello Crescent from 9:50 a.m. - 12:25 p.m. - 13 tickets issued.

Police incidents from June 4 to June 6 at 8 a.m.

The Guelph Police were involved in 349 incidents in this time frame. Incidents involve everything from traffic stops and accidental 911 calls to domestics and break and enters.
