Uber Driver Charged with Sexual Assault On Sunday, March 7, 2016 Guelph Police entered into a sexual assault investigation involving an Uber driver.

Uber Driver Charged with Sexual Assault

On Sunday, March 7, 2016 Guelph Police entered into a sexual assault investigation involving an Uber driver. As a result of this investigation, on March 11, 2016, 59-year-old Wale ALEMU, a Guelph resident, was arrested and charged with sexual assault. He will appear in court on April 26, 2016.

Impaired Driver Arrested

On March 12, 2016 at 7:45 p.m., the Guelph Police conducted a traffic stop on Victoria Road, south of Stone Road. Police spoke with the female driver and a demand was made for a roadside breath sample. She failed this test and was arrested.

Aimee Lecours, a 37-year-old Guelph woman, has been charged with impaired driving and drive over 80 mg. She will appear in court on March 29, 2016. 

The vehicle had been involved in a minor single motor vehicle collision and left the scene.  Anyone who may have information about this incident is asked to contact Cst I Smith at 519-824-1212 at extension #7125. Impaired Speeder Arrested 

On March 13, 2016 at 3:57 a.m., Guelph Police observed a vehicle speeding on Speedvale Avenue West. Police confirmed the vehicle was going 56 km/h over the limit and conducted a traffic stop. Upon speaking to the driver a demand was made for a roadside sample. The driver failed this test and was arrested. 

Faisal Jamali, a 24-year-old Kitchener man, has been charged with impaired driving, refuse breath sample by a qualified technician and highway traffic act charges.  He will appear in court on March 29, 2016. 

Wellington County O.P.P. and Guelph Police Respond to Collision  

On March 13, 2016 at 4:54 a.m., Guelph Police were made aware of a collision that occurred at the intersection of Woodlawn and Woolwich. O.P.P. had also been advised of this incident.  Both police services attended the intersection to find a single motor vehicle collision. Joey Breese, a 19-year-old Guelph man, was arrested for impaired driving. 

Suspicious Male Call Lead to Arrest 

On Sunday, March 13, 2016 at 8:50 a.m. Guelph Police attended to the area of Niska Road, where there was a report of suspicious males. Police located a male matching the description given and began speaking to him. As a result of this investigation, a 28-year-old Guelph male was arrested and charged with two counts of possession of stolen property, possession of break-in instruments, breach of probation and trespassing. He has been held for a bail hearing. 

Male Arrested on a Stolen Bicycle

On March 13, 2016 at 2:35 p.m. Guelph Police entered into an investigation involving a male with a bicycle. The bicycle was confirmed to have been stolen.  David Bell, a 32 year old Guelph male, was charged with theft under $5,000, possession of stolen property and breach of probation. He will appear in court on April 19, 2016. 

Shoplifter with Drugs Arrested 

On March 13, 2016 at 6:50 p.m. Guelph Police were called to a department store in the north end, where a shoplifter had fled on foot. A short distance later, police located and arrested the male.  A 22-year-old Guelph man was charged with theft under $5,000, possession of stolen property and possession of a controlled substance. He was held for a bail hearing. 

Over 80 

On March 13, 2016 at 8:20pm Guelph Police stopped a car for speeding on Wellington Street West. Police spoke to the male driver and a demand was made for a roadside breath sample.  He failed this test and was arrested. 

Micheal, Wooward-Merrick, at 25-year-old Guelph man, was charged with drive over 80. He will appear in court on April 1, 2016. 

Arson Arrest 

On March 12, 2016 Guelph Police entered into an arson investigation at an apartment building on Grange. There were two separate fires at the apartment building, which were both suspicious. On March 14, 2016 at 2:27 a.m., Guelph Police were called back to the apartment building, where there was another report of a fire. As a result of this ongoing investigation, a 24-year-old Guelph man was arrested and charged with three counts of arson – disregard for human life. He was held for a bail hearing. 

Over 80 

On March 14, 2016 at 3:09 a.m. Guelph Police were called to a parking lot in the area of downtown, where there was a report of a suspicious driver. Police arrived and spoke to this driver and a demand was made for a roadside breath sample. The female driver failed this test and was arrested.  

Fern Ahearn, a 35 year old Guelph woman, was charged with Over 80. She will appear in court on March 29, 2016.

The Guelph Police were involved in 390 incidents in the past 48 hours. Incidents involve everything from traffic stops and accidental 911 calls to domestics and break and enters.
