Guelph Police dealt with 550 calls for service over the weekend

The following news releases were issued today by the Guelph Police Service:

Theft arrest
On Oct. 11, 2018, Guelph Police were called to a business on Scottsdale Drive in regard to a theft. The male had left the store prior to police arrival. Through investigation, Police learned the identity of the male, and a warrant was taken out of his arrest for theft under $5,000, and two counts breaching his Probation Order.

On Oct. 19, 2018 while on routine patrol, Guelph Police observed the male walking downtown and he was arrested. Robert Kearns-Smith, a 25-year-old Guelph male, is scheduled to appear in court on Nov. 18, 2018.

Male arrested for waving knife in front of store
On Oct. 20, 2018, Guelph Police were called to a business on Victoria Road in regard to a male waving a knife out in front of the store.

Police located the male inside of the store and through investigation he was arrested for carry concealed weapon, as well as two counts of breaching his Probation Order. Eric Cunningham, a 45-year-old Guelph male, is scheduled to appear in court on Nov. 27, 2018.

Break and enter male arrested
On Oct. 21, 2018 at approximately 6:29 a.m., Guelph Police were called to a residence on Bond Court in regard to male who had broken into a garage and was being detained by the homeowner. Guelph Police arrived and spoke with the homeowner.

As a result, Christopher Sutherland, a 30-year-old Guelph male, was arrested for break and enter, as well as three counts of possession of a controlled substance. Sutherland is scheduled to appear in court on Nov. 30, 2018.

From Friday, Oct. 19, 2018 at 6 a.m., until Monday, Oct. 22, 2018 at 6 a.m., Guelph Police dealt with 550 calls for service.
