Weapons investigation, stolen vehicle, vehicle break ins

The following are news releases issued by the Guelph Police Service:

On the evening of Friday Oct. 20 police attended to a west-end bar to investigate a male that was believed to be in possession of a handgun. Police located the male in question and that investigation did not locate a handgun, but the male was arrested for other offences.

The 28-year-old Hamilton man was charged with obstruct police and breach of recognizance. He was held in custody to appear in bail court.

Sometime on the morning of Oct. 22, an unknown person(s) took a 2005 silver Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck from an address on Christopher Court.

Over the weekend it was reported to police that 10 vehicles across the city entered by unknown persons. A phone, laptop computer and small change were some of the items taken.

For the most part this crime is easily avoided by locking your cars, keeping valuables out of sight or removed from your vehicle and parked in a well-lit and visible area where possible. There were 15 motor vehicle collisions reported to police over the weekend. There were traffic related charges laid in seven of those collisions and minor injuries reported in three. 

Over the course of the day on October 20, 2017 the Guelph Police Service responded to 242 calls for service.
