Motorcyclist charged with dangerous driving, fleeing police

On July 7, 2020 at approximately 3 p.m., members of the Guelph Police Tactical Team were on general patrol in the area of Cole Road and Scottsdale Drive, Guelph, when they made notice of an un-plated Yamaha motorcycle. As the motorcycle turned eastbound onto Stone Road West, Police attempted to initiate a traffic stop by activating the emergency lights. The motorcycle accelerated away from police driving onto the sidewalk and then over a grass area in an attempt to flee from police. The driver eventually left the motorcycle and attempted to flee on foot. A brief foot chase resulted in police apprehending the driver.

A 23-year-old Guelph male has been charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, flight from peace officer, fail to apply for permit, operate motor vehicle no insurance, drive motor vehicle no licence, and drive motor vehicle no plate.

The accused is scheduled to appear in Guelph Court on Sept. 25, 2020.
