Motorcyclist charged with impaired after rear-ending another vehicle: OPP

TOWN OF ERIN - On July 5, 2019 at approximately 10:05 p.m. members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police responded to a property damage motor vehicle collision on Trafalgar Road near Side Road 5 in the Town of Erin involving a motorcycle rear-ending another motor vehicle.

Officers spoke with both drivers involved and determined that the motorcycle driver had alcohol in their body. A roadside screening device was conducted which resulted in a fail. The driver was placed under arrest and transported to a local OPP Operation Centre for further testing.

Robert Purnell, 49-years-old of Chatsworth has been charged with impaired operation - 80 plus (mgs of alcohol in 100mL of blood) contrary to the Criminal Code.

A 90-day administrative driver's licence suspension (A.D.L.S.) and seven-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute. The accused is scheduled to appear in Guelph Court on Aug. 9, 2019 to answer to the charge.
