On Oct. 21, 2017 at approximately 7:40 a.m., a Wellington County OPP officer was monitoring traffic on Highway 6 near Sideroad 5, Township of Centre Wellington. The officer observed a Suzuki motorcycle being operated at a speed that appeared to be well above the posted speed limit. The vehicle was locked on radar at 136 km/h in an 80 km/h zone.

The officer was able to follow and maintain sight of the motorcycle until the motorcycle stopped due to mechanical failure.

Forty-nine-year-old Josef David Gramueller of Guelph has been charged with race a motor vehicle contrary to the Highway Traffic Act and will appear in Guelph Provincial Court on Dec. 6, 2017. His driver's licence and vehicle were seized for a period of seven days as per statute.
