Motorist accused of driving more than 55 km/h over speed limit charged with impaired

Driver was locked on radar over 135 km/h in an 80 km/h zone

TOWNSHIP OF GUELPH/ERAMOSA - On Aug. 10, 2019 at approximately 8:30 p.m., a Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer was monitoring traffic on Wellington Road 86 near Ariss. The officer observed a red sedan travelling above the posted 80 km/h speed limit. The vehicle was locked on radar in excess of 135 km/h.

While speaking with the driver, officers formed the opinion that the driver was under the influence of alcohol. A roadside screening test was conducted which resulted in a fail. The driver was arrested and brought to a local OPP operations centre for further testing.

As a result of the investigation Abraham Schmitt Wall, 25 years old of Heidelberg, has been charged with impaired operation 80 plus (mg of alcohol per 100mL of blood) and racing a motor vehicle. A 90-day administrative driver's licence suspension (A.D.L.S.) and seven-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute. The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice - Guelph on Sept. 13, 2019.

On Aug. 9, 2019 at approximately 11:30 p.m., the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a possible impaired driver operating a brown sport utility vehicle on the Hanlon Expressway in the City of Guelph. Officers located and stopped the driver.

While speaking with the driver, officers formed the opinion that the driver was under the influence of alcohol. A roadside screening test was conducted which resulted in a fail. The driver was arrested and brought to a local OPP operations centre for further testing.

As a result of the investigation Jorge Andres Bonilla Hernandez, 37 years old of Guelph, has been charged with impaired operation 80 plus (mg of alcohol per 100mL of blood). A 90-day administrative driver's licence suspension (A.D.L.S.) and seven-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute. The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario court of justice - Guelph on Sept. 10, 2019.
