Mount Forest teen killed in county crash

Two other teens in the vehicle were airlifted to trauma centres with serious injuries from the single-vehicle incident, say OPP

DRAYTON – A teenage girl is dead and two others were airlifted to regional hospitals following a Sunday night crash near Drayton.

According to police, a black sedan left the road and hit a tree along Wellington Road 12 in Mapleton shortly before midnight.

“Emergency service responded and all occupants were transported to a local hospital,” states a Wellington County OPP news release. “A 17-year-old driver from Mount Forest was pronounced deceased. A 15-year-old passenger from Mount Forest, and 15-year-old passenger from Southgate, were both air-lifted to a trauma centre with serious injuries.”

The cause of the crash remains under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to call Wellington County OPP at 1-888-310-1122.
