Multiple racing charges over the weekend

CITY OF GUELPH - Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are reminding motorists to slow down and drive safe. This comes after numerous Racing Charges were laid.

On Mar. 4, 2017 at approximately 8:58 a.m., a Wellington County OPP officer was monitoring traffic on Highway 6 near Laird Road in the City of Guelph.  

The officer observed a male driving a 2015 BMW travelling at a speed that appeared to be well above the posted speed limit. The vehicle was locked on radar at approximately 135 km/h in an 80 km/h zone.

27-year-old Babak Nedjati Aghdam of Scarborough has been charged with Race a Motor Vehicle contrary to the Highway Traffic Act and will appear in Guelph Provincial Court on Apr. 5, 2017. 

On Mar. 4, 2017 at approximately 10:56 a.m., a Wellington County OPP officer was monitoring traffic on Highway 6 near Laird Road in the City of Guelph.  

The officer observed a male driving a 2013 Honda Accord travelling at a speed that appeared to be well above the posted speed limit. The vehicle was locked on radar at approximately 145 km/h in an 80 km/h zone.

28-year-old Steven George Bhagwandat of Scarborough has been charged with Race a Motor Vehicle contrary to the Highway Traffic Act and will appear in Guelph Provincial Court on Apr. 5, 2017. 

On Mar. 4, 2017 at approximately 2:04 p.m., a Wellington County OPP officer was monitoring traffic on Highway 6 near Laird Road in the City of Guelph.  

The officer observed a male driving a 2006 Toyota Corolla travelling at a speed that appeared to be well above the posted speed limit. The vehicle was locked on radar at approximately 138 km/h in an 80 km/h zone.

22-year-old Albert Stanislaw Gal of Brampton has been charged with Race a Motor Vehicle contrary to the Highway Traffic Act and will appear in Guelph Provincial Court on Apr. 5, 2017. 

On Mar. 5, 2017 at approximately 10:51 a.m., a Wellington County OPP officer was monitoring traffic on Highway 6 near Laird Road in the City of Guelph.  

The officer observed a male driving a 2013 Ford Edge travelling at a speed that appeared to be well above the posted speed limit. The vehicle was locked on radar at approximately 140 km/h in an 80 km/h zone.

47-year-old Guillaume Henri Grincourt of Burlington has been charged with Race a Motor Vehicle contrary to the Highway Traffic Act and will appear in Guelph Provincial Court on Apr. 5, 2017. 

In all cases the vehicles were impounded and the drivers licence seized for a period of seven days as per statute.
