Non-life threatening injuries in Highway 7 crash

On Sunday July 30, 2017 at approximately 8:30 p.m., Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a serious collision involving two vehicles at the intersection of Highway 7 and Wellington Road 29, west of Rockwood.

Initial reports indicated that a southbound vehicle failed to stop for a red light and collided with an east bound vehicle. The driver of the east bound vehicle had sustained serious injuries.

OPP as well as Guelph/Eramosa Fire Department and Guelph-Wellington Paramedics Services attended and treated occupants with varying degrees of injuries. The driver of the east bound vehicle and a passenger in the southbound vehicle were transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The road was closed briefly but is now open.

Forty-one-year-old Muhammad Ahmed Memon of Mississauga has been charged for failing to stop at a red light contrary to the Highway Traffic Act.
