Officer charged after police cruiser rear ends van

On Jan. 31, 2019 at approximately 11:30 a.m., a Guelph Police cruiser rear ended a grey Honda Odyssey van southbound on Gordon Street near Dean Avenue. The 74-year-old Guelph male driver of the van suffered minor injuries to his neck and head but did not require immediate medical attention. The cruiser sustained approximately $3,000 damage to the front end and damage to the van is estimated at approximately $4,500.

The officer has been charged under the Highway Traffic Act with careless driving.
