Officers search for driver that fled police

On Aug. 23, 2017 at 4:22 p.m., officers of the Guelph Police Service’s High Enforcement Action Team observed a grey Honda Civic parked in the area of Gladstone Street and Speedvale Avenue. This vehicle was known to be operated by a male wanted by the Waterloo Regional Police for a number of offences.

As officers approached the vehicle, the male driver pulled the car out into the roadway and sped off. When officers activated emergency lights and sirens to stop the vehicle, it continued to drive at a high rate of speed, disregarding stops signs and other vehicles on the road. In the interests of public safety, officers discontinued any attempts to stop the vehicle.

The driver is known to police and efforts to locate him continue.
