One store, two thefts, one suspect arrested

He allegedly resisted arrest after being located by police

On Dec. 26, 2017 at approximately 2:40 p.m., Guelph police attended to a downtown business where there was a report of a shoplifter. Police were unable to locate the (suspect) at that time.

At 6:11 p.m., the same person entered the same store and is alleged to have committed another theft. Police were called again and were able to locate the male. When police stopped and arrested the male, he is alleged to have resisted. There are no injuries as a result of this incident.

A 55-year-old Guelph male was charged with two counts of theft under $5,000 and resisting arrest. He was held for a bail hearing.

On Dec. 26, 2017 at approximately 1:30 p.m., Guelph police were called to a commercial property located in downtown Guelph. A victim stated that he had his wallet and cell phone taken. The subsequent investigation lead to the identification of a 24-year-old Guelph male.

At 2 p.m. the 24-year-old male was located and arrested. He was charged with theft under $5,000, possession of stolen property and breaching his probation order. He was held for a bail hearing.
