OPP call leads to numerous charges

TOWNSHIP OF GUELPH-ERAMOSA - On June 18, 2017, at about 9:41 a.m. members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a call of a male party that had broken into a shed on Wellington Road 124. Police arrived and arrested the male inside the shed.

Investigation at the scene revealed that the male had taken a firearm out of its case and placed it on an ATV. He had attempted to start the ATV with a screwdriver. He also had a brand new K2 bicycle and laptop with him.

Throughout the day OPP became aware of several more break and enter occurrences in the area.

33-year-old Charles Clarke has been charged with the following:

  • Break and enter x 4
  • Break and enter with intent to steal a firearm
  • Trespass by night
  • Possession of Stolen Property x2
  • Fail to comply with a recognizance x 2
  • Theft under $5,000 from a motor vehicle
  • Possession of a firearm

He was held for bail.
