OPP charged three drivers with impaired

One driver also faces drug charges

On Monday, June 11, 2018 members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (R.I.D.E.) Check on the Hanlon Expressway, Guelph. At approximately 2 a.m., the driver of a grey sedan entered the R.I.D.E. check.

While speaking with the male driver, officers formed the opinion that he was under the influence of alcohol. A roadside screening test was conducted which resulted in a fail. He was arrested and brought to a local OPP Operations Centre for further testing.

Forty-seven-year-old Robert J. A. Pettit of Guelph has been charged with driving with over 80 mgs of alcohol in 100mL of blood contrary to the Criminal Code. A 90-day administrative driver's licence suspension (A.D.L.S.) and seven-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute. He is scheduled to appear in Guelph Court on Feb. 6, 2018.

TOWNSHIP OF CENTRE WELLINGTON - On Saturday, June 9, 2018 at approximately 2 a.m. a Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer was monitoring traffic on Tower Street South, Fergus. The officer stopped the driver of a white hatchback for a driving infraction.

While speaking with the female driver, officers formed the opinion that she was under the influence of alcohol. A roadside screening test was conducted which resulted in a fail. She was arrested and brought to a local OPP Operations Centre for further testing.

Forty-eight-year-old Carrie Lynn Pearcey of Kitchener has been charged with driving with over 80 mgs of alcohol in 100mL of blood contrary to the Criminal Code. A 90-day administrative driver's licence suspension (A.D.L.S.) and seven-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute. She is scheduled to appear in Guelph Criminal Court on July 6, 2018.

TOWNSHIP OF CENTRE WELLINGTON - On Wednesday, June 5, 2018 at approximately 7 p.m. Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a traffic complaint on St George Street West, Fergus where officers located a black pickup truck.

While speaking with the female driver, officers formed the opinion that she was impaired. Further investigation revealed that her licence was suspended and three Warrants of Arrest were held against her.

She was arrested and brought to a local OPP operations centre were a Drug Recognition Officer evaluated her and concluded that she was impaired by drugs.

Forty-six-year-old Charman L. Tye of Fergus has been charged with impaired driving and driving while suspended, dangerous driving and illegal possession of opioids. She was held for bail.
