OPP report multiple racing charges over the weekend

All drivers had their licences and vehicles were seized for a period of seven days

CENTRE WELLINGTON - On Friday May 18, 2018 at approximately 4 p.m., an Ontario Provincial Police officer was monitoring traffic on Wellington Road 7, near Elora. The officer observed a male driving a red sedan at a speed that appeared to be well above the posted 80 km/h speed limit. The vehicle was locked on radar in excess of 130 km/h, exceeding the posted speed limit by at least 50 km/h.

42-year-old Scott David Burke of Moorefield has been charged with race a motor vehicle contrary to the Highway Traffic Act and is scheduled to appear in Guelph Provincial Court on June 20, 2018. His driver's licence and vehicle were seized for a period of seven days as per statute.

PUSLINCH - On Friday May 18, 2018 at approximately 11:30 p.m., a Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police  officer was monitoring traffic on the Watson Road South, near Arkell. The officer observed a male driving a white mini-van at a speed that appeared to be well above the posted 50 km/h speed limit. The vehicle was locked on radar in excess of 100 km/h, exceeding the posted speed limit by at least 50 km/h.

28-year-old Malcom MacDonald Bell of Puslinch has been charged with race a motor vehicle contrary to the Highway Traffic Act and is scheduled to appear in Guelph Provincial Court on July 18, 2018. His driver's licence and vehicle were seized for a period of seven days as per statute.

GUELPH - On Friday May 18, 2018 at approximately 6:30 p.m., a Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer was monitoring traffic on the Hanlon Expressway, Guelph. The officer observed a male driving a brown sedan at a speed that appeared to be well above the posted 80 km/h speed limit. The vehicle was locked on radar in excess of 140 km/h, exceeding the posted speed limit by at least 60 km/h.

18-year-old Colin Rudolf Guth of Guelph has been charged with race a motor vehicle contrary to the Highway Traffic Act and is scheduled to appear in Guelph Provincial Court on July 18, 2018. His driver's licence and vehicle were seized for a period of seven days as per statute.
