TOWN OF ERIN - Today at approximately 12:04 p.m. members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a weapons call at a residence located on Erindale Drive in the Town of Erin.

Initial reports indicated that a gunshot was heard in the residential neighbourhood just shortly after noon. Officers responded and secured the area which included a school in the vicinity being notified and a hold and secure put into place.

As a result of the investigation several parties were detained at the residence and a firearm was located and seized.

Police believe that this was an isolated incident and there are no further concerns for public safety.

The hold and secure at the school has since been lifted. The investigation is ongoing and charges may be pending.
