OPP looking for help to identify suspect in theft

TOWNSHIP OF CENTRE WELLINGTON, ON - On March 4, 2017 at approximately 4 p.m. members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of theft of gas from a gas-bar in Salem. Approximately $60 in fuel was pumped and stolen.

New evidence has emerged and the OPP is asking the public for their assistance in identifying the suspect caught on camera. (See attached photo)

Eye witness reports describe the suspect as a white male, 25-years-old to 35-years-old with short cropped hair wearing a black jacket, grey sweater, blue jeans, running shoes, and dark sunglasses.

He was driving a white 4 door Chevrolet Silverado 4X4 Pick-up truck with Ontario license plate #AP11135.

The Ministry of Transportation of Ontario (MTO) reports that the plates attached to the vehicle are reported as "missing'. The OPP feel that the vehicle may or may not have these plates still attached. It is quite possible that the plates have been switched out.

OPP are also investigating this truck in relation to vehicle entries in Wellington County.

The OPP are asking citizens to routinely check their licence plates to ensure that they have not been tampered with. Licence plates are easily removed and easily stolen, often without the owner's knowledge.

Any person with information regarding this person or vehicle should contact the Wellington County OPP at 1-888-310-1122.

Should you wish to remain anonymous, you may call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS) or submit a tip online at www.csgw.tips. You may be eligible for a reward from Crime Stoppers of up to $2,000.
