Pedestrian suffers 'significant' head injuries when hit by car

A Guelph male suffered significant head injuries after he was hit by a motor vehicle while walking home from work Wednesday morning, report Guelph police.

At approximately 6:15 a.m. police were called to the intersection of Speedvale Avenue West and Elmira Road North. Investigation revealed a 27-year-old male was crossing Speedvale Avenue West when he was struck by a motor vehicle which was making a right turn.

The pedestrian was transported to Guelph General Hospital by ambulance for treatment of head injuries. He has since been released to recover at home.

The roadway was closed for a short time as Guelph Police Traffic Services and Forensic Identification Unit officers conducted their investigation.

On Feb. 4, 48-year-old Habtom Mossa was killed when hit by a vehicle while crossing the road at the same intersection.
