Pick-up truck clocked at 50 km/h over the limit

TOWNSHIP OF GUELPH-ERAMOSA - On Monday, Feb. 4, 2019 at approximately 9:20 a.m., a Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer was monitoring traffic and conducting radar speed enforcement on Highway 6 near Wellington Road 51. 

The officer observed a white pick-up truck travelling southbound at a speed that appeared to be well above the posted 80 km/h speed limit. The vehicle was locked on radar at a speed in excess of 130 km/h, exceeding the posted speed limit by 50 km/h.

21-year-old Shane Wile of Fergus has been charged with Racing a Motor Vehicle contrary to the Highway Traffic Act. He is scheduled to appear in Guelph Provincial Court on March 20, 2019. His driver's licence and vehicle were seized for a period of seven days as per statute.
