Just before 8 a.m. on Jan. 16, an east-end resident noticed a man with a dog lying on the ground in a near-by park.

The compassion for his well-being prompted a call to police and that concern was well-appreciated when police arrived and learned that the man had actually fallen while walking his dog and hurt his ankle.

The 49 year-old man was unable to move and was on the ground for over an hour before he was discovered there.

The man was taken to hospital by ambulance to have his injured ankle tended to and arrangements were also made for his dog to be looked after while he received treatment.
