While Guelph Police continue to look for a missing Guelph man who hasn’t been seen since Monday morning, they are not currently conducting an active search.

Heibotllah Fazaei was last seen on foot near the intersection of Stone Road West and Edinburgh Road South around 9 a.m. Monday.

Guelph Police spokesperson Const. Kristen Southgate said there are personal details regarding the matter that can’t be released to the public at this time. As a result the search for him has not been upgraded to ‘urgent’ by police.

“There is concern. It doesn’t mean we’re not doing anything,” said Southgate. “We are looking for him and we do need to find him."

She said police are still following up with family members and certain areas he is known to frequent, adding that there are various risk levels police use for missing person reports and this matter is not currently categorized as ‘urgent.’

“It doesn’t mean we’re not doing anything about it, but if we are going to up our search methods, the public will be notified.”

She said police are in regular contact with family members who are concerned for his well-being.

Fazaei is known to frequent trails through University Village Park towards Ironwood Road, Kortright Road and Stone Road Mall.

He is of Iranian descent, thin build, approximately five-foot-three tall, 150 pounds with short white hair. He was reported to have been wearing a light coloured long sleeve shirt with dress pants and usually carries a red folding bag.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact The Guelph Police Service at 519-824-1212.
