Police cruiser nearly struck. Charges follow

PUSLINCH - On Oct. 13, 2017 at approximately 10:20 p.m., a Wellington County OPP officer was monitoring traffic on County Road 32 at Laird Road, Township of Puslinch. 

The officer was stationary at this intersection when a westbound motor vehicle entered the intersection at 97 km/h in a posted 60 km/h zone. The vehicle failed to stop at the clearly posted stop sign at the intersection and nearly struck the police cruiser.

Seventy-six-year-old John Barnes of Waterloo has been charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle contrary to the Criminal Code and will appear in Guelph Criminal Court on Nov. 21, 2017.
