TOWN OF ERIN - On March 24, 2018 at approximately 8 p.m., members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a family dispute resulting in a firearm being discharged on Mountainview Crescent, Town of Erin.

(It is alleged that) the suspect was involved in a dispute with family members, uttering threats and during the dispute a firearm was discharged. A 16-year-old female sustained minor injuries after being struck by a bullet ricochet. The suspect left the home prior to police arrival. He was located and arrested a short time later.

A 58-year-old male from Erin has been charged with the following:

  • Firearm - use while committing offence
  • Careless use of firearm
  • Careless storage of firearm
  • Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose
  • Pointing a firearm x2
  • Impaired driving
  • Assault - spousal
  • Utter threats
  • Assault with a weapon
  • Discharge firearm with intent

The suspect was held for bail.
