Police investigate report of stranger offering candy to child

Incident happened Tuesday afternoon in the Victoria Road/Speedvale Avenue area

Guelph police are looking to identify a man who approached a child and offered her candy in the north end Tuesday afternoon.

Approximately 3:30 p.m., a nine-year-old girl was playing alone in her driveway in the area of Victoria Road North and Speedvale Avenue East. An unknown adult male walking by stopped, took his hand out of his pocket and asked the child if she would like some candy. The child declined and ran to her house.

Police checked the area but could not locate the male, who is described as white, 65 years, 5’10" to six feet with an average build. He was wearing dirty jeans and a newer orange and fluorescent green safety vest.
