Police investigating after materials stolen from railway yard

Guelph police are investigating after thieves drove off with more than $6,000 in railway equipment from a north end site last week.

On Wednesday the manager of a local railway company reported the theft, which was captured on video.

Just after 3 p.m. on March 24, two males arrived at the site near Edinburgh Road North and Woodlawn Road West. They loaded various materials into the bed of their pickup before driving off two minutes later.

Items stolen included railway spikes, switches and steel plates with a total value in excess of $6,000.

The vehicle was described as a black pickup, possibly a GMC Sierra, with dark windows, black wheels and a black toolbox in the bed.
