On July 11, 2018 at approximately 11 a.m., the Guelph Police were out on foot patrol at the corner of Norfolk Street and MacDonell Street looking for distracted drivers.  In a span of one hour, police issued six distracted driving tickets and one seatbelt ticket.

Guelph Police would like to remind the public about the dangers of texting and driving. One person is injured in a distracted driving collision every half hour.  Also, a driver using a phone is four times more likely to crash than a driver focusing on the road.

A distracted driving ticket comes with a fine of $490 and three demerit points.
