At approximately 6 a.m. this morning, a staff member at the City of Guelph’s Wet and Dry Waste Processing Centre on Dunlop Drive arrived at work and saw a man going through one of the bins containing electronic recycling material and taking things from inside. When the man realized he was seen, he ran off southbound towards Stone Road where he had gained entry through the fenced property. Police continue to investigate and there is video equipment at the facility.

This is the second time in as many weeks that person(s) have gained entry to the fenced property to steal electronic recyclables. They have been approaching from Stone Road to the south and either jumping the fence or cutting through it.

Anyone who may have information about this incident is asked to contact Cst S. Pettapiece at 519-824-1212 at extension 7479 or [email protected]. Anonymous tips can be left at Crime Stoppers 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or submitted online.

Police are also encouraging anyone who is driving in the area of Stone Road at the rear of that property, to call police if they see anyone who appears to be loading things into parked vehicles, walking northbound towards the property fence or lingering about that area with bicycles pulling trailers with recyclables.
