A Listowel male caught driving Tuesday despite being bound by several driving prohibitions faces charges.
Approximately 1:15 p.m. Tuesday, Guelph police observed a motor vehicle driving on Speedvale Avenue West near Lewis Road and noticed the license plates were not registered to that vehicle. The vehicle was stopped and the driver arrested for using unauthorized plates.
Investigation revealed the driver was bound by six different court orders prohibiting him from driving, including three lifetime prohibitions for impaired driving. A search of the motor vehicle revealed three prescription pain killers in the console and two partially-full cans of alcoholic beverage.
A 48-year-old Listowel male is charged with six counts of operation while prohibited, possessing a controlled substance, using unauthorized plates, driving a motor vehicle with open alcohol, failing to surrender a motor vehicle permit and failing to surrender an insurance card. He will appear in a Guelph court Sept. 28.
