Police pull over pickup, seize bag of leaves suspected of being illegal

Police say officers could also smell a strong odour of the illegal substance

TOWN OF MINTO – On Oct. 30, 2016 at approximately 2:30 p.m. members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) investigated the driver of a 2006 Chevrolet pick-up truck that was observed travelling northbound on Elora Street in Harriston, Town of Minto, for a Highway Traffic Act (HTA) violation. 

While speaking with the driver, police immediately detected the strong odour of marijuana inside the vehicle. Officers seized a small baggie containing a green leafy substance believed to be marijuana.

20-year-old Logan Karcher of Hanover has been charged with Possession of Marijuana Under 30 Grams contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA).

He is scheduled to appear in Guelph Criminal court on Dec. 13, 2016 to answer to the charge.
