On May 22, 2018, at approximately 6:45 a.m., while on routine patrol, Guelph police observed a vehicle that had recently been reported stolen. The vehicle suddenly fled from police through a small subdivision.
At no point did police engage in a pursuit due to a concern for public safety. Shortly after the vehicle fled from police, it was located on Bellevue Street and the driver was located in the area.
As a result of the investigation, Christopher Reed, a 23-year-old Guelph man was charged with possession of stolen property, dangerous driving, possession of a controlled substance, two counts of breaching his order of recognizance, one count of breaching his probation order and related Highway Traffic Act charges. He was held for a bail hearing, which occurred on May 22, 2018.
