Police report multiple racing charges on the Hanlon Expressway

Both drivers were in excess of the speed limit by at least 50km/h

On Wednesday June 6, 2018, at approximately 1 p.m., a Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer was monitoring traffic on The Hanlon Expressway, Guelph. 

The officer observed a male driving a black sedan at a speed that appeared to be well above the posted 80 km/h speed limit. The vehicle was locked on radar in excess of 160 km/h, exceeding the posted speed limit by at least double.

19-year-old Ahmid Alabood of Mississauga has been charged with race a motor vehicle contrary to the Highway Traffic Act and is scheduled to appear in Guelph Provincial Court on August 1, 2018. His driver's licence and vehicle were seized for a period of seven days as per statute.  

On Sunday June 3, 2018, at approximately 9 a.m., a Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police officer was monitoring traffic on The Hanlon Expressway, Guelph. 

The officer observed a male driving a black sedan at a speed that appeared to be well above the posted 80 km/h speed limit. The vehicle was locked on radar in excess of 130 km/h, exceeding the posted speed limit by at least 50 km/hr.

31-year-old Nihal Mascarenhas of Guelph has been charged with race a motor vehicle contrary to the Highway Traffic Act and is scheduled to appear in Guelph Provincial Court on July 18, 2018. His driver's licence and vehicle were seized for a period of seven days as per statute.
