A Guelph male who was reportedly caught in the act after breaking into the compound at a city business faces several charges.

Just before noon Sunday, Guelph police officers on patrol noticed an unoccupied bicycle and trailer leaning against the fence of a gated compound at a business on Speedvale Avenue West near Dawson Road. Officers stopped to investigate and observed a male exiting a trailer inside the compound with a box of property in his hands.

The male was arrested, and a subsequent search uncovered several tools consistent with breaking and entering as well as stolen documents belonging to two other individuals.

A 52-year-old Guelph male is charged with break and enter, possessing break-in instruments, possessing stolen property, breach of probation and failing to comply with a release order. He was held for a bail hearing Monday and has been released to appear in a Guelph court Sept. 23.
