Police say cocaine dumped out of car window during traffic stop

TOWN OF ERIN - On Thursday May 23, 2019 at approximately 12:30 p.m., a Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police officer was monitoring traffic on Wellington Road 22, in the Town of Erin. The officer initiated a traffic stop on a passenger vehicle for a Highway Traffic Act violation.

As the vehicle was rolling to a stop, police observed the occupants throw a white object out of the car.  During the investigation, police retrieved the object which was a clear plastic bag. The bag contained several smaller bags filled with a white powdery substance believed to be cocaine. The two occupants of the vehicle were also in possession of a large amount of Canadian and American currency.

36-year-old Thien Van Pham of Barrie has been charged with possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act. The accused was scheduled to appear in Guelph Criminal Court for a bail hearing on May 24, 2019.
