Police say garbage bin theft leads to discovery of fentanyl

Police said one of the men had break in tools and fentanyl

Officers with the Guelph Police Service stopped two men at 4:18 a.m. after a garbage bin was stolen from outside a business located near the intersection of Elizabeth Street and Victoria Road South on Oct. 22.

The men were arrested and a search revealed:

  • Two syringes containing a total of 12 millilitres of pink liquid fentanyl ($35 value)
  • Sawzall
  • Hacksaw
  • Large metal flashlight
  • Hatchet

A 45-year-old Guelph male has been charged with:

  • Theft Under $5,000
  • Possession Of break-in tools
  • Possession of a controlled substance

He will appear in court on Jan. 19.

A 50-year-old Guelph male has been charged with:

  • Theft under $5,000

He will appear in court on Jan. 21.
