Vehicle hits construction sign

On Tuesday evening at approximately 9:35 p.m., a 20-year-old Oakville man was driving his black Mazda on Gordon Street when he attempted to turn into a parking lot.

The vehicle went up over the curb and struck a construction sign which caused a front tire to go flat. He continued to drive through the parking lot.

When police arrived to investigate the collision, the vehicle and driver was located at the other end of the parking lot and small bag of marijuana was seen inside of the vehicle.

Further investigation revealed that the driver was not impaired by drugs, but was charged with possession of a controlled substance and failing to remain.

He was released to appear in a Guelph court in April.
