A Guelph man faces impaired driving and drug charges after he was found passed out in his running vehicle Monday afternoon, Guelph police report.
Approximately 2:40 p.m. police were called to Riverview Drive and Wolseley Road where they found a driver asleep behind the wheel. When officers woke the man he took his foot off the brake causing the car to roll forward before he was able to put it into park.
Officers observed drug paraphernalia in the male’s lap and saw signs of impairment. The male was arrested and a search revealed a baggie containing suspected fentanyl. The man was examined by a trained officer who concluded his ability to operate a vehicle was impaired.
A 38-year-old Guelph man is charged with impaired operation and possessing a controlled substance. His licence was suspended for 90 days and his vehicle was seized for seven days.
