A Guelph man apparently couldn’t wait Thursday to try out the headphones he had just stolen.

At approximately 8:55 p.m., the Guelph Police Service received a call from a loss prevention officer of a store located on Woodlawn Road West near Woolwich Street. A male in the store had selected headphones and taken them to a washroom, where he discarded the packaging and put the $200 headphones in his pocket.

He then returned to the electronics department where he tested the same headphones on one of the display computers. He was arrested upon leaving the store.

The 25-year-old male is charged with theft under $5,000 and three counts of breach probation. He will appear in a Guelph court May 7.
