Police say two men assault one another with same metal pipe

Two adult males face charges after an altercation turned physical Friday afternoon on Wyndham Street.

Police report that the two males both hit each other in the head with the same metal pipe.

Police say that at approximately 1 p.m. the two got into an argument on the sidewalk on Wyndham Street North near Woolwich Street. One of the males left the scene, but came back about 30 minutes later with a metal pipe, which he used to hit the other male in the head.

Police arrived shortly after and saw one male on the ground bleeding and the other walking away with the pipe. As the officer attempted to arrest the accused he dropped the pipe, which was then picked up by the injured male who used it to hit his attacker in the head.

Both males were arrested and transported to hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

A 44-year-old Guelph male is charged with assault with a weapon and breach of probation. He will appear in court May.

A 52-year-old Guelph male is charged with assault and assault with a weapon. He will appear in court May 7.
