Guelph police are investigating after a teenage girl was allegedly assaulted in a south end park Tuesday evening.

The 14-year-old was in the park area behind Priory Park Public School on Scottsdale Drive when she was approached by an unknown adult male between 8:30 p.m. and 8:50 p.m. The male knocked her to the ground and got on top of her, but the female was able to fight him off and run to safety. The male was last seen running eastbound toward Edinburgh Road South.

The male was described as wearing a large dark-coloured hoodie, dark pants, a ski mask, fingerless gloves and black shoes.

The incident remains under investigation. It is believed there were people playing basketball and possibly tennis in the area at the time and police would like to speak to them. Anyone with information is asked to call Det. Const.
