Police service dog tracks down assault suspect

The suspect stands charged with assault, utter threats, forcible confinement and more

On July 19, 2018 at approximately 11:30 p.m., Guelph Police responded to a residence in the east end of Guelph in regard to an assault. Prior to police arrival, the suspect had fled from the residence.

Police service dog General attended to search for the suspect. Just after 12 a.m., the suspect was located by General and placed under arrest. Through investigation, the suspect was charged with assault, utter threats, forcible confinement, breach of his Probation Order, and possession of a controlled substance.

A 30-year-old Guelph male is scheduled to appear in court on July 20, 2018.
