Police want to talk to this person regarding Arboretum stabbing

Guelph police continue to investigate a stabbing which occurred at the Arboretum Monday evening and would like to speak to a male photographed walking away from the scene.

Police believe the male may have information relevant to the investigation.

Emergency services were called just after 5 p.m. Monday for an assault which occurred on a trail at the University of Guelph Arboretum. The victim was confronted by a man unknown to him and stabbed in the arm. The assault appears to have been unprovoked.

The suspect fled on foot. He was described as having brown skin, 18 to 20 years of age, 5’8” to 5’10” with a thin build and medium-length dark hair. He was wearing a dark hoodie, jeans and a backpack. He is believed to have suffered an injury to his face.

The victim was treated and released from hospital.
