Property clean-up efforts lead to assault charges

ERIN - On Oct. 10, 2017 at approximately 2:40 p.m., members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of an assault in progress at an address on Tenth Line, Town of Erin.

Police attended and investigation revealed that there were contractors on site cleaning up the property. A male party attempted to stop them from working, and while doing so (allegedly) assaulted a worker.

Sixty-five-year-old Lawrence Whitney of Erin has been charged with assault contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada. He is scheduled to appear in Guelph Criminal Court on Nov. 24, 2017.
