Young driver charged with racing, has vehicle seized

TOWNSHIP OF CENTRE WELLINGTON - On April 5, 2018 at approximately 9:25 p.m., a Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer was monitoring traffic on Highway 6 between 2nd and 4th Line, Township of Centre Wellington. 

The officer observed a female driving a grey sedan at a speed that appeared to be well above the posted 80 km/h speed limit. The vehicle was locked on laser in excess of 130 km/h, exceeding the posted speed limit by at least 50 km/h.

Eighteen-year-old Amanda Gray of Centre Wellington has been charged with race a motor vehicle contrary to the Highway Traffic Act and is scheduled to appear in Guelph Provincial Court on May 16, 2018.

Her driver's licence and vehicle were seized for a period of seven days as per statute.
