Report of driver sleeping at the wheel leads to impaired charges

In a second incident on the same day, erratic driving led to impaired charges for a Guelph-Eramosa resident

TOWNSHIP OF GUELPH-ERAMOSA - On Nov. 8, 2019 at approximately 1:50 a.m., the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a possible impaired driver sleeping behind the wheel of a running motor vehicle in a live lane on Wellington Road 86 near Wellington Road 30.

Police attended the scene and while speaking with the driver quickly determined that their ability to operate a motor vehicle was impaired by alcohol and placed them under arrest. The driver was transported to a local OPP Operation Centre for further testing.

Ryan Daniel Brutzki, 29 years old of Guelph has been charged with impaired operation and impaired operation - 80 plus (mgs of alcohol in 100mL of blood) contrary to the Criminal Code.

A 90-day administrative driver's licence suspension (ADLS) and seven-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute. The accused will appear in the Ontario court of justice - Guelph on Dec. 10, 2019 to speak to the charges.

TOWNSHIP OF GUELPH-ERAMOSA - On Nov. 8, 2019 at approximately 1:35 a.m., the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) investigated the driver of a sport utility vehicle that was being operated in an erratic manner on Speedvale Avenue near Elmira Road.

Police conducted a traffic stop and while speaking with the driver determined that their ability to operate a motor vehicle was impaired by alcohol and placed them under arrest. The driver was transported to a local OPP Operation Centre for further testing.

Aaron William Nelson, 49 years old of Guelph-Eramosa has been charged with impaired operation and impaired operation - 80 plus (mgs of alcohol in 100mL of blood) contrary to the Criminal Code.

A 90-day administrative driver's licence suspension (ADLS) and seven-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute. The accused will appear in the Ontario court of justice - Guelph on Dec. 13, 2019 to speak to the charges.
