Restaurant break-in suspect made a sandwich, left with bagels and bread: Police

Police say he later punched an employee at another restaurant after being asked to pay for his food

On Jan. 24, 2020 at 12:17 a.m., [it is alleged that] an adult male broke in to a restaurant located near the intersection of Wellington Street East and Gordon Street in the City of Guelph by kicking in the drive-thru window. The male then made himself a sandwich, grabbed a loaf of bread and a package of bagels, and left the restaurant.

Just prior to 2:08 a.m., the male entered another restaurant located in the downtown core of the City of Guelph and ordered food. When he was asked to pay, the male punched an adult male employee in the face, causing his upper middle lip to swell and bleed.

At 2:37 a.m., police located the male walking near the intersection of Dublin Street and Waterloo Avenue in the City of Guelph. He was subsequently arrested.

A 21-year-old Guelph male has been charged with:
    •    Break and enter and commit
    •    Theft under $5,000
    •    Assault

He will appear in court on March 3, 2020.
