On Sept. 22, 2017 at approximately 10:55 p.m., members of Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) check on County Road 124 in the Town of Erin.

A female driving a 2017 Chevrolet Cruz entered the RIDE check. While speaking with the driver the officer observed signs of alcohol consumption. A roadside screening test was conducted which resulted in a fail. She was arrested and transported to a local OPP Detachment for further testing.

Fifty-three-year-old Debra Payne of Erin has been charged with drive over 80 contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada. Her driver's licence has been suspended for 90 days and the vehicle was impounded for a period of seven days as per statute.

She is to appear in Guelph Criminal Court on Nov. 3, 2017 to answer to the charge.
