Riding lawnmower operator suffers serious injuries in crash south of Elora

Police say the driver of the SUV involved fled on foot and has not been located

On April 30, 2021, at approximately 10 a.m., Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded along with Centre Wellington Fire & Rescue and Guelph-Wellington Paramedic Services to a serious motor vehicle collision on Second Line south of Elora.

It was reported that a southbound white SUV collided with a riding lawnmower. The operator of the lawnmower has been transported by Ornge air ambulance to a trauma centre with serious injuries. The driver of the SUV fled the scene on foot.

The Wellington County OPP Canine Unit and members of the Emergency Response Team (ERT) assisted in conducting an extensive search of the area however, the driver was not located. 

The cause of the collision is currently under investigation.
