Robbery, drug charges for Guelph male

A Guelph male who was wanted for several crimes including robbery is now also charged with drug offences following his arrest Friday evening.

Approximately 8:30 Friday, officers were on patrol in the area of Speedvale Avenue East and Gladstone Avenue when they spotted the male who was known to them. The male got on a bicycle in an attempt to flee but was stopped a short distance away.

He was arrested on an outstanding warrant for offences including robbery, dangerous driving and flight from police. During a search incident to arrest, police recovered quantities of suspected red and blue fentanyl, crystal methamphetamine and crack cocaine with an estimated total value of $4,100. The bicycle was also determined to be stolen.

A 36-year-old Guelph male is further charged with four counts of possessing controlled substances for the purpose of trafficking, possessing stolen property and two counts of breaching probation. He was to appear in a Guelph bail court Monday.
